He has transformed himself into a man that people turn to for help in solving problems on his daily television show. Aside from being a popular psycologist, Dr. Phil is also a gifted businessman whose business empire includes bestselling books, a blockbuster of television shows, and sold-out live seminars. According to The Making of Dr. Phil, author Sophia Dembling states that Dr. Phil could possibly be one of the most fascinating success stories in recent years. Aside from the fame and wealth, Dr. Phil has had a number of his own hardships. He has suffered greatly from criticism from the public and press, and also has faced a rough divorce. However, Dr. Phil's "win at all costs" attitude has allowed him to build a business and media empire. His perseverance and determination have carried him far in life and helped him find the power to help others. Author Sophia Dembling puts the reader in Dr. Phil's shoes as she describes his life. Throughout the book, Dembling makes connections to how Dr. Phil is a normal, every day human being. Despite all of the wealth and fame, Dr. Phil still remains down to earth and grounded. He simply wants to make a difference in the world and help people in trouble.

Words To Live By

"A person's true wealth is the good he or she does in the world." --Muhammad

"Blessed is the man who expects nothing, for he shall never be disappointed."--Alexander Pope

"Kindness in words creates confidence. THe windows of the houses nearby were still as black as night. A faint aroma of freshly brewed coffee filled the air. No sounds were heard, except for the subtle wimpering of my little sister. Everything was so calm and serene, just like the gentle breeze drifting through the trees right before a storm breaks. Then the trucks came; bumping and roaring down the quiet street, like big steel monsters. Men jumped out quickly, as though they realized it was moving day. As I watched the men hustle about, I sat, deeply thinking about my future. What would my new life in Strongsville be like? Would I make any new friends? While contemplating this, I began to feel warm, salty tears sting my eyes as my car drove away towards my new home. I realized my life would be taking a new turn, maybe for the better, maybe for the worst.
